Notes of Interest

Segmented beads, were long tubular shaped beads that were either cut, or rolled into "segments".  There are segmented beads found from the 1500s made of faince.  Their production continued through all SCA time periods. They are found in all colors, and even some which have been decorated!  The chinese were the most notable for working with these beads.  They created a metallic gold looking segmented bead.  They used a tube in tube construction with a gold foil in between the layers.
